Chris Hendricks says:

Good eye opener for the uninitiated Neil. And remember folks, just because you get shot or cut in no way are you out of the fight. Most gunshot wounds and even more stabbings are survivable, so stay in the fight, take care of business, then patch yourself up if needed (tourniquet). Be safe.

Edwin Rodriguez says:

Thank you for it.

What do you think about the colonel blades knife for close quarters defense?

Knives > guns.

How about making space first in order to draw your gun?

Tommy 64 says:

Never bring a knife to a gun fight… A long time a guy pulled a knife on me , as soon as he did ,I knocked him out with a punch!!

SixStringLove Guy says:

I have a terrifying story. One of my best and dearest friends was doing some volunteer work in the city and as he was headed for his car, a man approached him with a hypodermic needle and told him to hand over his wallet. The guy said he was HIV+ and that if he ran, he would throw it like a dart. My friend had a Sig 9mm in his waistband in the small of his back, a hoodie and jacket on. He was afraid that if he went for his weapon, the guy would simply throw the needle before he could bring the Sig to battery. He was debating if the guy was bluffing or was really HIV+. Do you take the chance? Knowing you can blow that asshole away but would end up with a disease? So, he handed over his wallet and watch and fortunately it's all he wanted and took off. Afterwards he said the range of emotions was hitting him in waves. Fear, anger, frustration, shame…I kept telling him he did the right thing. So, in this case it wasn't even a knife. A druggie with a hypodermic needle whooped one of the most badass firearms on earth being carried by a guy who trains and shoots like it's a religion. Food for thought to all us legal carry types. What would you do?

SE Michigan Andy says:

What we were taught (I'm too old and worn out to take classes anymore) and what was verified with rubber knives was that you will also get cut. Knowing that beforehand helps the mental preparation. It's a terrifying situation to be in, especially for the psychologically unprepared.

James Stacey says:

THIS has been one of my greatest fears for a long time
realizing you're probably gonna taste your own blood before you can react
at least you hope you will be able to reactivate. …
as always thank you very much for your experience and sharing your information stories with US citizens..

Robert Picard says:

Jim Knight says:

Yeah you don't ever want anyone within striking distance in a knife defense scenario
As you have stated many times situational awareness is the key to surviving like that

Drop It Like It's Scott says:

As always, great information. Thanks for what you do and thanks for your service in Law Enforcement
