$100 to anyone who was actually able to follow this to the end without
problems. It’s almost worse that he used two slightly different colors
instead of just all of one. Because your brain fights to see which one is
olive and which one is black when it goes into the shadows. It ends up just
looking like an impossible mess of dark cords, preventing you from
differentiating between one or the other.

Sa pick says:

What did you put on the monkey fist?

NYPanama says:

Hi Kevin, how about doing one from the very beginning.

Daniel Smith says:

That’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a minute. I could take on 6-1
with that in self defense. You’d tear some people up. Throw in some Krav
Maga an they’d REALLY be up shit creek without a paddle.

fredy mora says:

how much would a red and black one.I tried to make one but I don’t have
CREATIVITY or PATIENTS (due to
high blood pressure)

Patrik Lunning says:

Hey Kevin. Thanks for all the great videos you put on YouTube.
In regards to this video (Monkey’s fist self defense lanyard) I am really
struggling at the end. At around 11 minutes into the video, after you’ve
done the crown knot. Could you possibly post a video of just this sequence
using very different color paracord so one can tell the difference.
Thanks a lot.
Regards Patrik

thnx man it was really helpful

TLCpokertables says:

Hi there,
Thanks for all of your informative videos! I’ve been paracording for about
a year now, making bracelets and monkey fists and still having fun with it.
Right now, I was asked to make a monkey fist with a 1″ ball with 42″ of
snake knot weave. How do you go about calculating how much cord is needed
for this?!?!? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Paracord Projects says:

Looks fairly easy to make. Until you try it yourself. Still easy, but not
as much :=)

Chad Butcher says:

be sure to check with your local police department, before making monkey
fists to carry, they are illegal in some areas

Einfach gut

Keith Baudoin says:

cuzz i got a question for u

beng says:

Hey, just a heads-up, word of caution… the monkey fist self defense
lanyard (and also the billiard ball lanyard on your site) may present some
legal problems.
There are restrictions on carrying ‘slungshots’ (not a mispelling) or
weighted monkeyfist knots with lanyards in most states.
A more direct problem though may be other prohibitions depending on where
you are or are shipping to.
As an example in Florida it is illegal to manufacture, cause to
manufacture, sell or expose for sale something of this type…many other
states may have similar prohibitions.
It might simply go unnoticed, or perhaps it might even be ignored if it is,
however, listing it as a ‘self-defense’ lanyard will probably not help .
.
As a side note, fine steel lead or tungsten shot inside a small rubber,
leather, silk or other pouch instead of a single solid mass has numerous
advantages. Like a dead blow hammer, energy transfer is very high and when
hitting the head that, unlike cracking/crushing bone and breaking the skin
likely with a solid piece, instead jolts the skull in a way that makes loss
of consciousness more likely.

Better than some boatswain’s mates i knew in the Navy. Nice vid, new sub.

Matt Starosta says:

How many feet of black and olive drab paracord do you need to make the
4-strand diamond knot and manrope knot

Keith Baudoin says:

do u have a phone to txt r call

LiberalLionMMXX says:

Nice video but it would be much easier to visualize if the two strands
weren’t such similar colors.

Baby monkey wap aroun

spainmarc17 says:

How much cord do i need to use for 15″ long total? Thanks

nine4t4 says:

Wetting paracord is pointless. The materials are synthetic and not affected
by being wet (or it’s insignificant). The only point for wetting would be
during the reefing process (the lubrication would get it a tick tighter) If
you were to use cotton, then it would make a difference. Cotton would shrink

nine4t4 says:

Nice rope skill, stupid application. This is the kind of ‘weapon’ that is
just as likely to hit the user as it would the target. I made a mace a
while back. The handle was 8 linked monkey fists (you start the next before
reefing the first one, and then repeat. When reefed it’s almost as hard as
wood The weight was just one fist built around another monkey fist (being
100% rope is slightly less of a legal issue)

TheModdyFox says:

how much is it in english pounds as i can’t find it on the website, thanks
for your help

Crowfeather2011 says:

Quick question @ Teh Paracordist: Is there any legitimacy in your
experience in soaking paracord in water before wrapping a knife or other
object to make it tighter when it dries? if read that it helps and tried to
execute a few wraps but have not experienced an improvement i could notice.
im in no hurry. Crowfeether

TheGuerillapatriot says:

Totally illegal in Kalifornia, weird. It’s less than lethal and the
politicians managed to makes having one a crime. Bizarre.

art4med says:

Inch and a half steel ball held by two strands from monkey fist……..
hmmmnnnn, what’s wrong with that?

Hunter Swain says:

Just started making monkey fists. Still on the beginner learning curve, but
I can’t wait to get up to that level.

David Barkhimer says:

nevermind, i finally saw the link to the more detailed step-by step. Thanks
Kevin!!

Bill Goebel says:

Basically you tie your first fist at 1 year with the smallest bearing you
can find. You wear it on a cord around your neck to let your shipmates know
you dont drink. Every year on your anniversary, you tie a bigger fist.
Eventually you fall off the wagon or the fist gets too big to wear around
your neck.
