Desperate Defense: Light Bulbs

Start your free trial today, at http://www.squarespace.com/rogue to get 10% off your first purchase. Desperate Defense Week comes to a conclusion! If you missed any, there are three quick episodes that led up to this: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMviV1kG2V2hqjNkAzDDuKK7KzbfTt8IK You awake to find yourself in a dark room! Your eyes begin to adjust to the glow of a red exit sign at the far end. Standing between you and the door, you can just barely identify the silhouette of what appears to be two men, one on the shoulders of the other. On your last of three wishes, you panic and wish for a light; your trickster genie hands you a single light bulb very sarcastically. She vanishes back into the dark vacuum of her lamp, which itself vanishes into the darkness of the room. Suddenly the Nokia tune plays over a low fidelity PA system, signifying the start of the tenth tournament in Mortal Kombat. Do you use this light bulb to aid you in saving the Earthrealm from Shao Kahn’s reign? —————————————————————– Seriously, don’t go around eating light bulbs. —————————————————————– Reference Material (Amazon) A Guide To Improvised Weaponry http://a.co/59adLoF —————————————————————– Patreon: http://patreon.com/modernrogue Discord (patron reward): https://discord.gg/acHyrmR MR Articles: http://themodernrogue.com Outtakes & BTS: http://youtube.com/scamstuff Subreddit: http://modernrogue.reddit.com Merch: http://shop.themodernrogue.com Twitter: http://twitter.com/modernrogueshow Instagram: http://instagram.com/modernrogueshow Facebook: http://facebook.com/modernrogues —————————————————————– Music used in this episode: “Springside” by Stan Forebee https://chillhop.bandcamp.com/track/springside “The One” by Cap Kendricks https://chillhop.bandcamp.com/album/chillhop-essentials-spring-2018 “spring waltz” by saib. https://chillhop.bandcamp.com/album/chillhop-essentials-spring-2017 Most of the music from the show: http://bit.ly/mrspotify —————————————————————– This episode was made with the help of: Brian Brushwood – host — https://twitter.com/shwood Jason Murphy – host / research — https://twitter.com/captainmurphy Brandt Hughes – camera operator / editor — https://twitter.com/gatowag Bryce Castillo – camera operator / live audio engineer — https://twitter.com/brycas

Zeph Tzou says:

#1 wrap your hand in 3-4 layers of cloth, maybe your shirt. Palm the bulb and strike using the heel of your hand. Aim below the eye and push upward after contact. The goal is to shatter the bulb on the cheekbone and push the shards into the eye.

#2 put bulb in center of a thin, large cloth like a t-shirt or pillow case. Wrap and hold the buld like a sling and swing hard. First strike should shatter the bulb, any other strikes there after may cut due to shards and metal base inside. Alternatively, take the broken insides and throw them at assailant.

#3 throw bulb at wall or floor near assailant. The flying shrapnel could deterr or distract assailant long enough for you to escape.

Ryuzen Hono says:

Not sure how effective this would be, but you could have tried slapping the light bulb into the training dummy's face. Like if you were to wrap your hand with cloth in real life, hold onto the light bulb and slap someone the light bulb would shatter on the persons face so it would essentially be as if you were slapping someone with microscopic knives. Then again I'm not sure it would break upon impact so yea.

Scott Johnstone says:

Don't put glass in your mouth kids…….

Scott Johnstone says:

It's not breaking because the dummy is rubber, you hit a human with that, it's more than likely going to break.

done dane says:

the attacker can block both bulbs

Andrew Cullen Entertainment says:

Brian should go on my strange addiction for eating glass

DaCrustyShow says:

If you don’t break the bulb and you just stick it in the attackers mouth they will not be able to pull it out and they will start panicking and give you enough time to run.

What-Ever Productions says:

So, yeah, uhm…..am I the only one here who's thought process immediately jumped to 'MythBusters' with that opening shot? Jason with the hat remineded me of Jaimie and Brians attitude is almost identical to Adams.

Dennis Kruyt says:

Having cut-gloves, leather gloves, eye protection and then… flip flops in a warehouse full of glass shards.

Ty Davies says:

Just the lightbulb in your hand will hurt, you don’t need break the bulb. You could also throw the bulb at the attacker as their coming at you

Isaac Haskell says:

You should just crush the glass (Either just on the floor or, preferably, with the heel of your shoe.) and then just toss the glass dust in the attackers eyes. This would do the about the same as ninja blinding powder. You could then use the "push dagger" piece to full effect while your opponent is blinded or, alternatively, run away.

Simon opdebeeck says:

I agree with Jason: eating it is probably the best way to use this thing

Bloop_glor p says:

Make a diy stick welder with car batteries

Hellrizer USA says:

I like how he’s changing who the sergeant is. Like, now it’s green berets, but if you look at the previous videos…

JyrzRM says:

I feel like light bulbs would be great projectiles.
Tossing them at someone would either hurt them through blunt damage or explode into shards on them and if you miss you're still throwing glass shards out which could distract or still harm them.

Sean Hancock says:

I would have liked to see if different types of light bulbs make a difference. Honestly I get those twisty tubed energy saver ones even just sent in the mail to be free sometimes. Those tubes seem pretty sturdy, you might get a nice jagged stabbing device from that if you broke the ends of the tubes

Iron Druid says:

I think it could serve two purposes that put it somewhere outside of the "Better than fists?" scale. First we could Home Alone booby trap the floor, then the fear factor of trying to attack someone with a sharp weapon in their hand could scare them off. If the funny traps don't get them you scare them off with the idea of glass in their faces.

Gabriel Yong says:

Try different bulbs

Kyle Hayworth says:

I wish y'all would've stuck the fencing mask on Jason and started breaking lightbulbs over it.

Frangitus says:

You guys tried throwing?
