What’s this? A Modern Rogue on a Tuesday?? Introducing Desperate Defense Week, featuring a minisode every single day this week!! You find yourself in a barren room, a lone can of hair spray at your feet. You do not remember how you got there. After a brief pause, a klaxon blares throughout the room and an aggressor emerges from a shadow-engulfed corner of the room. Do you use the hair spray to defend yourself? —————————————————————– Reference Material (Amazon) A Guide To Improvised Weaponry http://a.co/59adLoF —————————————————————– Patreon: http://patreon.com/modernrogue Discord (patron reward): https://discord.gg/acHyrmR MR Articles: http://themodernrogue.com Outtakes & BTS: http://youtube.com/scamstuff Subreddit: http://modernrogue.reddit.com Merch: http://shop.themodernrogue.com Twitter: http://twitter.com/modernrogueshow Instagram: http://instagram.com/modernrogueshow Facebook: http://facebook.com/modernrogues —————————————————————– Music used in this episode: “Things Work Out Eventually” by fantompower https://chillhop.bandcamp.com/album/chillhop-raw-cuts-2 “Lemon Tea” by GYVUS https://chillhop.bandcamp.com/album/chillhop-essentials-summer-2017 Most of the music from the show: http://bit.ly/mrspotify —————————————————————– This episode was made with the help of: Brian Brushwood – host — https://twitter.com/shwood Jason Murphy – host / research — https://twitter.com/captainmurphy Brandt Hughes – camera operator / editor — https://twitter.com/gatowag Bryce Castillo – camera operator / live audio engineer — https://twitter.com/brycas

Prodigy says:

Running is the best option imo, but if you are cornered I can see the flamethrower as viable. You would have to light their clothes so they get distracted then you could blind them with the flame. Maybe light their hair and attack while distracted. I would give it a solid 6

The Garden of Eatin says:

lol "I have emerged from another intellectual property to destroy you."

Un7ucky says:

but hairspray is a fuel, i dont think you'd burn someone, this is like lighting fuel on your hand on fire, you dont get burned (easily)

Therocketman321 says:

A solid 4 by itself, with a lighter, I would give it a 5.

Unspecified McElroy says:

5 it’s not something that could kill immediately but it will definitely stun them

Tristan Cruz says:

You'r how to basic

Brandon Glauner says:

Dark Souls Combustion spell comes to mind.

Kolten Mattingly says:

I would say 8 or 9

Frank Colangelo says:

I say like 7 or an 8

Coal Inside says:

As someone whos been in several fights with hairspray I can say its a five at most. Even with the flames if someone is way bigger then you (and they probably are thats why your using fire.) They will probably get scared and a bit burnt but really you can just push through that and grab the can/lighter.

SMP says:

See, If you don't have a means to light the hairspray, it becomes drastically less effective.

With a lighter or match, I'd say a 6 or 7. Without, 2 or 3.

Sub Sleeps says:

using your fists would rate 11 if you knew CQC

WakeTheMountain says:

Is 10 suppose to be an actual home defence weapon…Like a shotgun or taser or something? Cuz if thats the case, i would give a can of hairspray a 2 or 3.. honestly, if people broke into my house i wouldn’t think “oh, Im good .. I have a can of hairspray and thats a 7… i can try to carve his ear off if he doesn’t see me coming and leaves his head completely exposed at point blank range” … especially after seeing Murphy barely blink when it was sprayed directly into his eyes… might work ok to surprise someone if you can catch them off guard and definitely gives you more utility than your bare hands alone… but, sorry guys I just don’t think its higher than a 3, tops… definitely not a 7

Adrian Martinez says:

I think guys should carry hairspray

FAT TONY KAUAI Haun says:

wasp spray is better

Ashot Ter-Saakov says:

If you used bug spray instead of sunscreen the it would hurt your eyes much more also the bug spray does burn

Pierre Tellier says:

3 at best. keep in mind there are a ton of range weapons and blunt/sharp weapons to go before Guns/BFGs! =

James Johnston says:

9 definitely there are probably more uses somewhere

Furr Bear says:

WD-40 is a major upgrade in the fire area. There may be something even better in a spray can – but WD-40 is pretty damn common.

joeybootsify says:

I'm giving it a 7 as far as using it as a blunt object of attack combined with maybe spraying them in the eyes. Lighting it on fire looks as if it would be too clumsy and would only be useful given that you can hide around the corner….

Brian… you looked way to excited to spray Jason in the face a second time hahaha
Jason… Props for being a man and just being like "Yeah, just spray me in the face"
