In Switzerland we can not carry (without special license that is difficult
to obtain) but we can own firearms. Important difference there, at least
from my point of view!

adcogran says:

thankfully living in the USA in the state of Ohio i open carry everyday. i
do not need a concealed carry permit to do this. i hear it all, “baby
murderer” or you name it but mostly i get positive comments. i believe in
this day and age that having a gun not only makes more sense for self
defense but it does keep you safer with all the shit that is going down. if
you cant defend yourself and your family properly how are you expected to
get along day by day? here in the USA we are struggling to keep our freedom
to do this but we are winning. we will stay a well armed country even if we
have to go to war in our country to do so. the one thing i can thank having
a socialist dictator obama as president is that more firearms have been
sold with him as president then any other president ever. that is a good
thing.

You seem to have the wrong idea about gun control. As we haven’t had a mass
shooting since it was instigated almost 20 years ago. Also the fact that
unless everyone in the cafe had carried a gun, had the ability and skill to
shoot a human being, or had prior knowledge the having what you believe
should happen is not necessary. Giving more people a chance to own guns
more haphazardly like in the US means more guns to steal, and more powerful
firearms for nutcases like the guy in Sydney to use. 2 people died and one
was by his hand an only after people took the chance when he was dozing off
after 17 hours to escape. One of a heart attack and one who was struggling
with him for the gun. More could have died if people had guns for
‘self-protection’ as it certainaly doesn’t do any good in the US with all
the mass shootings as the people who do them either suicide, suicide by
cop, are shot by snipers or give up.

Chompski says:

I would love to legalize guns for self protection, but I feel there would
be an influx of people getting them just to say eh look at me I’ve got a
gun :D

+Raw Combat International – Official If the barrier to arming for self
defense in Australia is mostly a mindset/personal responsibility thing do
you see a way for people to learn that skill or gain that wisdom without
owning and using firearms? It seems to me that the people who grow up
around firearms are more realistic, safe, and respectful of those tools
than people who just learn about them through call of duty. In the US our
right to bear arms is recognized, but not everyone should have a gun. I
think the difference is that its up to the person to decide if they are
willing to take on that responsibility — of course, that has its pitfalls,
but the choice is there. If you have the right to live, doesn’t that
inherently grant the right to defend life and access to the necessary
tools? Thanks, btw, for sharing your views.

Michael Snow says:

As and Australian, maybe the death toll in Australia plummeted since the
last 18 years because guns have been (almost) banned. In my opinion, I
don’t think there should be a time to arm the citizens of Australia, there
will always be fatalities not just from firearms.

44lolin says:

I know you don’t want to argue, but what would be the point of the comment
box? The only thing I want to know is your level of expectation, before a
citizen should be able to legally carry a weapon, whether it’s a fire arm,
blunt, or sharp weapon. On this topic at least.

sam emerson says:

i think we should initially have people do a proper course before being
allowed to carry concealed and slowly introduce guns into Aussie culture
and gradually loosen the restrictions as people become more knowledgeable

CombatOasis says:

Great video, Luke.

mcafee1971 says:

Yes they do Bitch about gun laws and Crime in California and Illinois.

Ant T says:

Great discussion and good points. As a sporting shooter in Australia, I
also think we don’t have the right mentality or the need for that matter to
go armed every day. I am pretty grateful for that too.

Dreadhammer says:

My opinion on arming citizens ? Don´t. Why ? Because I think it gives a
false sense of security for those guys who carry a firearm. Without proper
training that is. And proper training is very time consuming why most
people don´t do it. With proper training I don´t mean to be able to shoot
and hit a target. Proper training for me is being able to react in a high
stress situation like a hostage scenario. Could a guy like you with a gun
in that place have turned that situation ? Maybe. The average civilian with
a gun there would have probably caused a bloodbath.

Kahutea song says:

well said bro! totally agree
