I like 380 ACP as well as .32 ACP due to the history of round I just stick to carrying FMJ rounds for the little guys I rented a Glock 42 at the range and was surprised how accurate it is at 10 yards for such a small handgun

It's better than throwin rocks, I reckon.šŸ¤

I carry a Ruger LCP 2 as a back-up to my Sig P 320 Sub-Compact or Sig P 938 the 9 MM version of the P 238 (Same Size) Being a smaller person smaller size matters. Without a doubt a .380 H.P. traveling at 1000 FPS (self defense ammo) will get the job done. At 25 feet shots in the 9 and 10 zone fairly consistently with my LCP 2. I'm not carrying FMJ range ammo either.

Have you read American Gun by Chris Kyle? I've never given thought to guns other than their effectiveness but he went into pretty much every detail and how new innovations and advancements in guns won wars….like rifling and bullet casting and stuff….the sights and so on….I didn't finish reading it but it was a great book…..basically goes into all the guns that protected and served America…..pretty good history lessons for gun lovers.

Perfect timing….I was recently working a night shift as a Security Guard at an unarmed site…Federal building and it didn't have any 36 or 37 signs but the co-workers said you can't carry…..even as a Commissioned Officer which is another term for Armed Guard….I brought my 9mm and kept it in my lunch box because I was alone and no one would know…..then it got me thinking….i've seen my uncle's .380 Bersa Thunder and it's really small….perfect for a pocket pistol…….

I'll carry even where it is considered "illegal" because it's my right regardless of what Unconstitutional laws they put into effect…..and the .380 fits the bill as a good sub-compact handgun….Bersa Thunder Plus in .380 has a 15 round double stacked magazine and in my opinion that is perfect for concealed carry when you really need it to be concealed and having a tucked in shirt and such doesn't allow you to hip carry….only pocket carry will be concealable…..

I've seen ballistics on the .380 and they are very comparable to the 9mm….the actual bullets are about the same size but the casing for the .380 is maybe 1-2 millimeters shorter…..but those 1-2 millimeters make a big difference in power…about 150-200 ft pounds which is basically the same with the 9mm vs 10mm and the 10mm can have even 400 more ft pounds…

My thoughts on the .380 for self defense are great as long as you're using a double stacked .380 because if you aren't landing vital shots like head, neck or heart you probably won't immediately incapacitate someone and have them drop dead….I couldn't recommend 8+1 rounds of .380 for the fact that it isn't much for one shot kills unless you're an expert gunfighter who puts all of their shots on vitals without breaking a sweat……

I'm buying a .380 Bersa Thunder Plus in January for true concealed carry….I don't consider hip carrying to be true concealed carrying because if you lift your shirt up or don't wear shirts 2x bigger than your true size it will show when you bend over or stretch or anything else….I want something I can put in my pocket and no one will even know i'm carrying….this will only be my carry gun in places where it is considered illegal to carry where ultimate concealment is the goal…..as for regular concealed carry I will be buying a Rock Ultra FS HC 10mm….

But do I think that the .380 is perfect for self defense….I would say not really, it will get the job done in the hands of an expert but i've seen suspects come at cops with knives in their hand and the cop shoots the guy 3-5 times with .40 S&W but the cop still gets stabbed a couple times before the guy drops dead…..but like I said if you are an expert and shoot at vitals instead of just "Center Mass" the .380 will not fail you and the bad guy will drop immediately…I don't care who you're shooting….anyone who gets shot in the heart or brain will immediately drop dead….any round places on the Central Nervous System will incapacitate the bad guy…..

I urge everyone to read this and start training with this incorporated….it will save your life….if you buy body targets then draw vital organs on the correct locations and start shooting those instead of "Center Mass".

Most excellent video, Merry Christmas

wingedwarrior01 says:

Single stack nines arenā€™t much bigger and much better/ more powerful/ more accuracy. 380 is much better than nothing šŸ˜Š

This is awesome says:

More than 90% of the folks that carry any handgun, will not hit the bad guy in a stressful situation, so the caliber is not relevant.

NEVER OBEY says:

I carry a 380 as a backup and my daughter has a lil 380 in her purse too.. Aint nothing wrong with that caliber.. I mean 1 in the head or 2 or 3 rounds dead center and you most definitely going down!!

MrZonacat1 says:

I agree with you that the 380 can get the job done. I also agree that the Sig 238 is the best of the lot. Good to see you again and thank you for what you do for the 2nd Amendment.

Tau Neutrino says:

I think .380 is great for summer/warm weather carry, lightweight clothing for good guys (easy to conceal) and bad guys (not trying to penetrate multiple layers of clothing).
Agree on the P232 being very accurate with great sights and trigger.

Michael Orlowski says:

Great video thanks Tom …Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Yankeepride03 says:

A .380 FN M1910 pistol started W.W. I. It killed the Arch Duke Ferdinand and his wife.

Scott Jernigan says:

You do an excellent job with this Channel

WeRunGuns - WRG says:

What kind of accuracy are you getting out of the Sig P232? I recently did a video on ā€œMastering: The Ruger LCP IIā€ and I was able to get some pretty good accuracy out to 15 yards (about a 6 inch group). Great video on the 380 caliber, but I prefer the 9mm. If you are very concerned about size and concealability, the LC9 or Glock 43 may be a better option. However, Iā€™ll admit I occasionally carry the 380 for ultra comfort if Iā€™m wearing sports clothes.

Bulwark1911 says:

I have the black Sig P238, and Glock 42.
Both are lightweight and accurate, I highly recommend both!

Dan 821 says:

Merry Christmas Tom and Tammy!
I have a Sig238 and I find it very easy to carry concealed and very accurate! I don't use the +P+ rounds in it so I probably need to look into that. Most of the time I will alternate between my Sig 238 and S&W 642, but it depends on where I am going and how dressed.
Thanks for sharing!

russ elder says:

Great video—–you said it all……Merry Christmas Tom and family…..thanks for a great year

Troph2 says:

of course the .380 is perfectly ok for Self defense, this isnt 1930s russia where people walk around with 2" thick felt jackets.

jordanaug81 says:

I end up carrying .380 the majority of time just because I'm a contractor who's up and down a ladder all day and I need something ultra small that doesn't get in the way. I obviously go bigger when I'm not working or depending on the season but I've never felt unarmed with .380.

TheGUARDIANā„¢ says:

Merry Christmas Tom and family. When carrying light, I carry P238 HD model with Underwood Xtreme Penetrator +P.

john pately says:

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Motorcitymadman says:

I do believe the 380 of today is a totally different gun and round then when it was made. I think its a great round and it most definitely will do just about anything a 9mm will in 4 yards. .

amacro11 says:

Merry Christmas Tom to you and you lovely family.
Al
PS I have the P238 for pocket and appendix carry also love my Beretta Model 85

GunCollector007 says:

Definitely a viable self defense round

hugo bin says:

Love the Sig.

John Katz says:

I love the .380! I have a Kahr P380 and it's well made and so easy to carry. I've also owned the Walther PPK, PPKS and even the Bersa Thunder. I have several 9mm's but the P380 is always by my side.
